Week 3: 5 New Friends, not a part of Immersive Education

Finding new friends . . . can be difficult but perseverance paid off! I actually
befriended 7 new friends. Some were very willing to discuss Immersive Education; others are there as social network and just want to hang and/or meet new people.

Here's a screen shot of the list of my new friends.

I will briefly describe my encounters with each of my new friends. The first two people I me were Angelica Donogal and Terry Dethly. Angelica is a young woman from Ireland. She is new to SL and was quite happy to make friends with me. She was interested in the Immersive Education approach of our class. Terry is also new to SL but was more interested in checking out SL and not so much about discussing Immersive Education.

Here's my first two new friends;I met them on Avatar Island.

My conversations with Angelica:

My brief conversation with Terry; however, we did not get a chance to discuss Immersive Education.

The next two friends I met were also from Avatar Island; Shyann Harvy and Triniboy Snowbear.

Shyann and I had a brief conversation. We talked about a little about Immersive Education but at the time I did not get a snap shot of it.

Triniboy Snowbear: A man from the Bronx, age 32, drives a truck delivering appliances. He was dancing the whole time; he was interested in learning a little about about the Immersive Education experience on SL but more interested in socializing.

QNS, XUE, told me she was a teacher in SL, although I am not entirely sure for what; She said it was for a Citizen Police Department (I assume in NCI). She would help fellow SL citizens. She was the one who referred me to NCI - New Citizens Incorporated. This is where I met Xilin Yifu.

My last encounter was one of the best; Xilin Yifu;she would not befriend me at first until I explained my reason for being on SL. Turns out she is an instructor at Monash University in Melbourne, Australia. After we chatted for some time, she offered me friendship and then invited me to her class. It was located at Chinese Island - Sandbox, Monash Univerity (210,23, 25) The class is both in English and Chinese. The teams and team members are required to where t-shirts to distinguish themselves from each team. One of the goals of tonight's class was to read the board for the train and try to buy purchase tickets for a train ride; here are the photos. They are required to purchase the tickets in Chinese.
